The most common question we receive is how to prepare the armor for painting. There are a few options, but all involve some level of sanding the components. The use of filler primer is the key to getting a clean surface. An automotive filler primer from an auto parts store is recommended. If you are trying to replicate a specific character for costume approval the 501st CRL database has a list of the Pantone specific color codes for each piece of the gear. Following this exactly is recommended for costume approval.
The armor can take all types of paint from spray paint to acrylics. If you take the time to properly prep and prime the armor the end results will look amazing.
